Educational work

Prof. Leonid Tsvirkun recently teaches Computer Systems and Networks Research and Design, Global Computer Networks, Network Information Technologies and Computer Logic.

 

Research activities

Main directions of scientific work:

− theoretical bases of use of perspective information technologies and intellectual systems in mining industry;

− image processing in control systems.

         Biography

Born on December 23, 1950 in Dnepropetrovsk, graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute (now NTU "Dniprovsk Polytechnic") with a degree in Automation and Telemechanics, and in 1983 with a postgraduate degree in Process Engineering.

Since 1978 works at NTU "DP" in the positions of engineer, Art. engineer, Art. researcher, assistant. In 1985 he defended his PhD thesis, since 1988 - Associate Professor of the Department of Automation of Production Processes, Deputy Head of the Department, since 2007 Professor of the Department of Automation and Computer Systems.

With his active participation in 2001, the department opened and passed the licensing, and then the following accreditations, specialty "Computer systems and networks" in "Computer Engineering", which is in high demand among entrants.

Since 2005, the Cisco Networking Academy has been opened and operating at NTU Dnipro Polytechnic under the guidance of prof. Tsvirkun LI

Cisco Academy courses are integrated into the Computer Engineering specialty program. Studying for international programs and obtaining Cisco Academy certification gives graduates more opportunities for employment in information technology.

The successful work of the Cisco Academy allowed the opening in 2013 of NTU "Dniprovsk Polytechnic" the Cisco Instructor Training Center, which is the only one in the region and one in ten in Ukraine, and in 2016 the Cisco Academic Support Center (which is only in the leading universities in Ukraine) .

In 2013 prof. Tsvirkun LI was the Editor-in-Chief and translator of a Ukrainian team that translated from English and prepared for use the first Cisco Multimedia Guide to Computers on Cisco Hardware and Software Course, which is available on the Cisco Academic Portal (http://netacad.com).

In 2017-2018 prof. Tsvirkun LI has done similar work in preparing other Cisco language courses − Introduction to Cybersecurity and Cybersecurity Fundamentals.

Thanks to the Cisco Academic Support Center, Cisco Systems has been awarded NTU Dniprovsk Polytechnic the official Premier+ Partner status in the ASC Rewards Program 2019-2020 with the relevant certificate. Thus, NTU "Dniprovsk Polytechnic" has entered the TOP-10 universities in Europe, which have a similar status.

The involvement of prof. Tsvirkun LI as a part of Ukrainian delegations from leading universities of Ukraine at Cisco Partner Conferences: 2015 Rome, Italy, 2016 Berlin, Germany, 2017 Athens, Greece, 2018 Marrakech, Morocco, 2019 Barcelona, ​​Spain, 2019 Lisbon, Portugal.

Tsvirkun LI author of more than 80 printed scientific publications in Ukrainian and English (nine of which are manuals with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Academic Council NTU «DP») and 30 educational and methodological developments.

Tsvirkun LI in 2005, he was awarded the Shakhtar Glory honors of the third degree for outstanding services in the preparation of specialists for Ukraine, and in 2015 the Medal for Dedication to the University.

In 2017, for her active participation in the volunteer initiative to train military personnel of Ukraine with computer network technologies, Prof. Tsvirkun LI was awarded a diploma with gratitude from Major General Rapko V.V.
